My "Butterflies" Quilt Project

These are the 1930's reproduction fabrics I am using for my butterfly appliques. Most of them are "Aunt Grace Authentic 1930's from the collection of Judie Rothermel" by Marcus Fabrics. I am making two butterflies from each of the 32 fabrics. As of today I have 8 butterflies ready to applique and stitch down with with black DMC floss. There are 63 butterfly 9" blocks in the pattern I'm using from the April 2010 issue of "Quilters World" magazine.

"Butterflies" Vintage 1930's Quilt

This lovely quilt is a real vintage quilt made back in the 1930's. It belongs to my friend Gail. The quilt had been made for her father when he went away for college.
She shared this quilt with me and we both were amazed that this is the same butterflies on the quilt pattern featured in the April 2010 issue of Quilter's World Magazine which can be seen here:http://www.e-patternscentral.com/detail.html?prod_id=7058&cat_id=87&source=EPCQQ
I have bought the April issue at the fabric store because of this butterfly quilt on the cover and wanted to make it!! So now I have really been inspired to start my own butterfly quilt after having the honor to see and touch the vintage quilt someone else made so long ago.
