Rooster for my Sewing Room

I found this little fellow on eBay. He stands about 12" tall and just an empty wire body. When he arrived I stuffed him with strips of fabric and made him a matching tail of fabric strips I trimmed with pinking shears. My daughter's opinion of him was that he looked "fruity" so I named him Juicy Fruit. He stands on top of one of my book cases in my sewing room. My chicken pincushions adore him.

Folded Star Hot Pad

We bought a new oak dinning room table with chairs this week so I decided we needed lots of new pretty hot pads to place under bowls and things on the table. I searched the internet for patterns and found this great link for a turorial to make a Folder Star Hot Pad. I've made 4 since I began Sunday! They are easy, fast and fun to make.

Progress of 2008 Crazy Quilt Blocks Project

Over the past couple of weekends I assembled my 56 crazy quilt blocks into a quilt top. These are the blocks I pieced last summer of 2008. After I had made a few blocks last summer I decided to keep all the fabrics in medium to dark fancy fabrics. (I have another set of blocks I made that are all light to medium blocks.)

All the seams of the blocks are embellished with hand embroidery stitches using black, gold, red and burgandy vintage silk button hole twist. The bed in this pictures is a queen size and the blocks just cover the top. I am going to hand stitch a fly stitch over all the seams of the quilt top where all the blocks were sewn together using the burgandy silk button hole twist. The picture above with the hoop is where I've began stitching the seams of the pieced quilt top.
The binding of the quilt will be burgandy. This quilt top will probally be hand tied when its put together.

Mr. Kellogg

This is Mr. Kellogg who came to roost on my back porch! My co-worker Debra gave him to me yesterday at the office. He is such a dignified and charming fellow!

Glorious Baskets" Quilt is Finally Finished!!!

From start to finish it took me 3 years to complete this quilt and I enjoyed every minute of it. I embroidered all the blocks by hand as well as hand quilted the entire quilt. There is an earlier post on my blog showing pictures of when I was hand quilting on it. Now to decide which quilt I will work on next!!

Memorial Day Weekend

I took a vacation day yesterday to make my holiday weekend a nice long 4 days. Enjoyed getting to spend such a beautiful morning out in my back yard tending to my plants and flowers.
Planted 3 yellow Petunia's, a Mexican Lavender plant, a bell pepper plant and chili pepper plant. Took a picture of my pink calli lily with its 1st bloom this year. My glads have been blooming nice now and I had a gorgeous Iris bloom I took a picture of a couple of weeks ago.
I don't know what the first picture of the flower is. I planted this a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find a name for it. The blooms looked like bells when I first got it but now they look more like trumphets.

My First Purse Finished!

Last weekend I made my first purse using the Boho Baguette pattern.
I am also going to make the Encore Purse Insert to use inside this purse to give it a more stable shape plus to organize all my stuff. The fabric I used for the interior and inset of the purse handles is a pretty cotton batik look that has little sprakles in it. I am going to make the purse insert with the same pink fabric.
